Online Japanese Carpentry Course through Real Construction⇒www.kickstarter.com/projects/1911438091/online-japanese-carpentry-course-through-real-construction
We are building a Japanese carpentry school in France.
We will document this entire process with drawings, photos and videos, and make it an online course so that everyone can learn about Japanese carpentry in English through this real construction project.
We will use traditional Japanese techniques and construction methods, and use local materials such as wood, stone, and soil to build the most sustainable buildings possible. We hope you enjoy our carpentry learning materials.
Let’s enjoy woodworking together!
That click sound when you whacked of the off cut was so satisfying!

Thank you very much for showing me your method for x and rip cut. I have learned much and can't wait to put it into practice.
Wow , this saw looks awesome, fast, straight and easy control

I also like the style you translated all the remarks into English. It really helps foreign people to get the hang of it. I'm proud of existing this kind of traditional work in Japan! Thanks.
Japanese saws drifts a lot, it took me while to develop the technique. He is cutting soft wood, hard wood is a different story. Japanese saws are nice, but they aren't magic as people like to call them. I can make the same cut with a rip Kataba Nokogiri or with a rip Disston D8 26", 5 1/2 TPI, 5 degrees rake The Disston is less likely to drift simply because the plate is thicker.
wow! the rip cut side is so fast!!
Good cut. Thank più for this video
Saludos desde Argentina!
Thanks to everyone for comment.
This saw can be purchased at the following site.

The feature of this saw is that you can also make lip cuts and cross cuts.
In other words, it is a saw that can be cut at any angle.
Of course, a lip cut special saw is good for lip cutting and a cross cut exclusive saw is good for cross cutting.
And the original of this saw is actually Europe. When saw culture came in Japan it means that this saw was already in Europe.
Yep influenced by big 1 and 2 man cross cut saws with rakers and deep gullets. Thanks again!
any possibility of an English translation?
Robert is correct needs to be in English also
Nicely done. That was a handy tip on the crosscut.
This is basic technique I should've learned many years ago....
It’s great that you preserve the traditional way!
Great tools and skills as always.

Perfection.
In Japan, even carpenters are engineers.

Excellent explanation thank you

So sharp hack saw. Amazing...
Very good! Thank you.
Awesome saw!
love it.
Great techniques !! I learnt something new !!
Muito bom parabéns
nice lesson, many thanks
What kind of Ryoba is that? The crosscut blade looks different from any Ryoba I have seen, with the deep U-shaped cutouts.
Can you please send me link where is it possible to order such a saw?
fantastico
Awesome👍
Hello, in what place or website or store can I buy that Ryoba. I'm in Japan Thank you

Thanks for the advice! Great video.
I'm sure you can find one online, I don't know if you could source one in Mexico.

The ryoba’s ‘yokobiki’ teeth look like the ibarame geometry from madanoko style saws which cut very fast, just like this saw! I’m in the uk but how do I get one of these?
Great video as always thanks
100% arte...
I still don't understand why i chose to buy a dozuki and not a ryoba, the latter is a much more versatile tool and i just wanted to try a japanese style saw so no reason really for a dozuki, ryoba would've been so much better, and now back in my home country they're really hard to find unless you're willing to pay way much more than you should.
I have a Ryoba and love it, but I will probably add a Dozuki at some point - because of the back support and the finer teeth it is better suited for fine joinery work (dovetails etc.)
@@AGH331 of course, I'm not saying it's a bad tool (dozuki) i just meant that for learning purposes, a ryoba would've been a better first purchase.

Why don’t I see any sawdust? What kind of sorcery is this 🧐
Aj ,
The reason maybe.
One of functions of “windows” of saw teeth, is, ejects dusts faster than general saw. And this is one reason that this saw cuts faster.
But this is for cross cut. For rip cut, hmmmm, he might be really a sorcerer!
The blade on these saws is very thin and there is almost no set on the teeth thus creating very little and very fine sawdust.
I seen plenty of saw dust not sure what you was watching lol
It cuts on the pull stroke, most of the saw dust is removed from the pull stroke very fast so it's not too visible. Very little is produced on the push.
Just having fun with Suikoushya guys. For posting a video on how a Japanese saw cuts as if we don’t know. 🤨
Now what exactly is he building? Some kind of temple to House his crystal balls and books on sorcery 🧐😁
Where can I buy this kind of saw?
May i ask what's the advantage of using this instead of regular saw?
These Japanese saws cut as you pull the blade towards you, wheras a 'regular' western style saw cuts as you push the blade away from you. The Japanese saw tends to produce neater cuts on soft woods, and the double-edged design means you can both crosscut and rip with the same tool- if you used regular saws, you'd need two separate saws to get the best results for those two jobs.
The downside is that they tend to cut slower than a western style saw, especially when dealing with hard woods.
@@nerd1000ify thank you
where could I get a saw like that
David Lefort Amazon
I have searched the internet but can not find this exact saw with the aggressive crosscut teeth. Who sells them?
It’s hand forged in Japan. Especially given that tooth geometry which the Japanese only started using mid 20th century on big timber saws. We won’t find these on any old search. We need to bu6 from Japan and most likely these are not too common. I’ve a large saw collection, maebiki, madonoko, ibarame nakaya yokobiki, big curved breasted 330mm ryoba etc and this is the first time I’ve seen this style of yokobiki geometry on a ryoba. Perhaps it’s old stock or maybe these are being made for the timber framers in Japan commercially now but most western companies importing saws for the ‘gyokucho’ woodworker. Keep checking eBay. Good luck hunting. I want one!!!!!!
This saw is not sold.
There is a skilled saw sharpener, he is very famous, and only selected top professionals can order him to modify a saw from general teeth into this special one.
Sorry, you may have no chance. I do not either.
John Domville
I told you a lie. It was sold here and seems to be ready to use, made by Mr. Nagatsu, a saw master.
www2.odn.ne.jp/mandaraya/noko-nagakatsu-syounhin.html
Yes his name is Nagakatsu Chomasaru. Lots of info here mypeculiarnature.blogspot.com/2014/12/chomasaru-la-sebastian.html?m=1
Also check out these blogs
laborlimaetoolworks.blogspot.com
granitemountainwoodcraft.com/
These saws are thus often referred to as Chomasaru. Also the deep gullet style was influenced by western saws and these ‘window’ saws or madonoko type are a fairly recent innovation.
And if people like blogs

Lots of western people fiddling around trying to replicate these saws
